A double chin can stick around even when you eat well and stay active. Genetics play a big role in where we store fat, and the area under the chin is one of the most stubborn. Kybella is an injectable treatment made of deoxycholic acid, a molecule your body already uses to break down dietary fat. When it's injected into the fat under the chin, it destroys fat cells in that area. Once those cells are destroyed, they can't store fat again.
Kybella is FDA-approved for improving the appearance of moderate to severe fat under the chin (called submental fat). At Le Spa, we also offer PCDC, a related lipo-dissolving formula used off-label for small body areas such as the bra line or inner thighs. Your provider will explain which option fits your goals.
Kybella is not a weight-loss treatment, and it isn't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you have loose skin under the chin, your provider may suggest pairing it with skin tightening for a more defined result.
Your visit starts with a consultation, where your provider assesses the area, the amount of fat, and your skin's elasticity. On treatment day, the area is mapped with a small grid, numbing and ice are used for comfort, and a series of tiny injections is placed under the chin. Most visits take 20 to 45 minutes.
Most people see clear improvement in 2 to 4 sessions. Treatments are spaced at least a month apart (often 6 to 8 weeks), and the label allows up to 6 sessions in total. The number you need depends on how much fat you're treating and the result you want.
Swelling is normal, and it's actually a sign the treatment is working. Expect the area to look puffy for several days, with swelling usually peaking in the first week or two after each session. You may also notice bruising, tenderness, numbness, or firmness under the chin. Many people plan their first session before a quiet week.

Results build gradually as your body clears the treated fat. Visible improvement typically develops over 4 to 8 weeks after each session. Because the treated fat cells are gone, results are long-lasting, as long as your weight stays stable.
